I recently, unintentionally did the most fun thing with a close friend, and I’d recommend it to anyone.
We swapped bucket lists.
People are always saying “I want to do this” or “it would be cool to do that,” but how often do we actually make the plans to do it?
Even writing a bucket list is hard. When you really sit down to do it, don’t be surprised if you end up writing down 12 things and then going to Chipotle because it’s second dinnertime.
So first, commit yourself to completing a 50-item bucket list by a certain time and date. All friends have to hold each other accountable or the person who didn’t get it done has to buy dinner. A pretty good incentive to finish that bucket list, I think.
Next, share your bucket lists. It’ll reveal things about each other you didn’t even know. But the best part is…
There will definitely be at least one overlap. Voila!
Me and my friend Travis figured out that we both want to see the Northern lights. He wants to go Denali State Park, and I want to see the Midnight Sun in Alaska. Looks like we can pair up and each check two things off our list if we book a flight to Alaska…
Need help getting started, or adding a few more items to your list? PopSugar has some ideas for the summer here, and here are some more ideas…
- Read a literary classic
- Let go of a floating lantern
- Attach a lock to a love bridge
- Revisit your favorite city
- Rent a tree house on AirBNB and spend the night
- Get drunk with your grandchildren
- Throw a dart at a map and literally plan a trip to the spot where it lands
- Have a mint julep at the Kentucky Derby
- Give someone a tour of your hometown
- Explore a castle
- Drive down the Pacific Coast Highway
- Attend a Vegas night swim party
- Skip school or work and have your own version of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Life is short, make sure you spend it doing baller things with your favorite people.
