If you don’t think busy is the new black, are you even a millennial? I actually don’t, but that’s another story. I like my news condensed like anyone else living in the age of 140 character limits, and even have to admit that I skim The Skimm pretty frequently.
I love that my generation has carved a sleek path to efficiency on multiple fronts, newsletters being one of them. I’ll always feel grateful to the coworker who first introduced me to The Skimm, which is where I fell in love with the concept of having news delivered to your email inbox while you’re snug as a bug in a rug at 5 in the morning.
So, without further ado, let me introduce you to some other favorites I’ve since met…
The Hustle
I don’t know if the folks at The Hustle know this, but I take stock tips from their newsletter. That’s how on the ball they are and how much I trust them. I even went to HustleCon. I had no idea what The Hustle really was when I went to my first Pizza & 40s event, but they seem pretty rad and their newsletter is great. I feel smarter reading it. Which we all need early in the morning.
Newsette
I learned about Newsette when its creator, Daniella Pierson, was featured on one of my favorite blogs, Career Contessa. At that point I was already a Skimm convert and didn’t think I had the bandwith in my morning to add another subscription to my email inbox, but I tried it out and I’m glad I did.
The Newsette covers the important stuff but adds a little extra in the news pockets I’m interested in – namely, trends, a mini advice article and sometimes, a tiny scoop of gossip.
The Skimm
This one still wins for best obscure film references. Literally dropping every line from Devil Wears Prada to Mambo No. 5 and still zeroing in on the news with stunning precision. Much respect to these ladies – getting up at 4 AM to make the news this witty is surely no easy feat.
